The Celiac Association of Catalonia, an organization founded in 1977, is the first organization created in Spain defending the interests of people with celiac disease. On June 25, 1994, the Federation of Celiac Associations of Spain (FACE) was formed. FACE is constituted by 17 associations of celiacs distributed throughout the national geography. The fundamental objective of the FACE is to coordinate the efforts and the work done by the member associations to defend their rights, with a view to unity of action and to better achieve common goals. It works to improve the quality of life of celiac people and achieve their social integration. ADILAC, Association of Lactose Intolerants Spain was founded in 2003. Its main objective is to be a meeting point and a means of communication between the lactose intolerant people and companies and horeca. It focuses on obtaining the sensitivity of the food manufacturers in the labeling of their products and disseminates the knowledge on lactose intolerance.
AILI allows lactose intolerant person to live their life in a serene and conscious, without the need to feel "different". AILI aims to grow the civic sense and social attention, raising awareness and spreading knowledge of that intolerance. One of its main objective is to raise awareness amongst manufacturers and / or distributors of food, so highlighting the absence on the packaging or the amount of lactose present in the components and processes in order to allow its use by patients who are lactose intolerant.
