During a journey in 2011 in India, we discovered the local tradition of using dried leaves as dining plates.
We were instantly fascinated by the natural simplicity and beauty of this custom. We immediately realized the possible impact this practice might have in the global fight against plastic waste.
We left our respective jobs as an industrial designer and retail manager and returned to India. Whilst there, we started to set up a small production in cooperation with local farmers and manufacturers who shared our vision of a clean, sustainable and fair process. We then founded Leef in order to bring the Leefplate-revolution to Europe.
With a crowdfunding campaign we managed to finance the first full container, which was the first of many to come.
Since then, Leef has set new standards in the fight against plastic waste and is living proof of the vision of a modern lifestyle in harmony with nature.
